Collection: Max Lieberman

Max Liebermann was a German painter and graphic artist. He is one of the most important representatives of German Impressionism. After training in Weimar and stays in Paris and the Netherlands, he initially created naturalistic works with social themes. Through his involvement with the French Impressionists since 1880, he discovered the light colors and dynamic application of paint that characterize his main work. His work symbolizes the transition from 19th century art to classical modernism at the time of Wilhelminism and the Weimar Republic.
