Collection: Giuseppe Arcimboldo

Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1526 or 1527–1593) was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads composed entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books. These works form a different category than his other productions. The still life portraits were clearly intended in part as whimsical curiosities to amuse the court. He is known as a mannerist of the 16th century.
