Pedro Machuca

Pedro Machuca was a Spanish painter and architect during the Renaissance. After studying in Florence, where he learned the principles of Renaissance architecture from Giuliano da Sangallo, he returned to Granada (1520). Initially he worked mainly as a painter, but in 1527 he was appointed chief architect of the Alhambra by Emperor Charles V and took over the construction of a palace.
