Collection: Paul Klee

Paul Ernst Klee was a German painter and graphic artist whose diverse work is classified as Expressionism, Constructivism, Cubism, Primitivism and Surrealism. Klee was in close contact with the Der Blaue Reiter editorial team and showed graphic works at their second exhibition in 1912. A trip to Tunisia in 1914 with August Macke and Louis Moilliet helped the artist, who until then had worked primarily as a graphic artist, achieve his breakthrough as a painter. It became known as an art-historically important trip to Tunis.
