Collection: Musée Marmottan Monet
The Musée Marmottan Monet shows over three hundred Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings by Claude Monet, including the Impression, soleil levant, created in 1872, from which the name of the art movement Impressionism is derived . It is the largest collection of his works.
The museum also contains works by Berthe Morisot, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin, Paul Signac, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and others. The fame of the Marmottan Museum is the result of a donation from Michel Monet, Claude's second son and only heir
