Joseph Karl Stieler

Joseph Karl Stieler (1781–1858) was a German painter. From 1820 to 1855 he worked as a royal court painter to the Bavarian kings. He is known for his neoclassical portraits, which are characterized by excellent technical execution and the idealization of their subject.
