Collection: El Greco
Doménikos Theotokópoulos (1541–1614), known as El Greco ("The Greek"), was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. "El Greco" was a nickname that referred to his origins. He usually signed his pictures with his name in Greek letters: Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος. He is best known for sinuous, elongated figures and often fantastic or phantasmagoric pigmentation, combining Byzantine traditions with Western painting.
